The Dragons: Book Two in The Journals of Anterg
Excerpt from Chapter 1
Dunmore Throop stood in a small patch of sunlight glowing in the wooded yard next to his cottage. He had watched that patch of sunlight all spring, and now, in midsummer, he wanted to see if there was enough sunlight to grow a rose bush—a rose bush for his mother.
Standing in the sun’s warmth, Dunmore closed his eyes and saw his mother’s garden. It overflowed with red, white, and pink roses. Along an old wooden fence, stalks of hollyhocks bloomed with buds perfect for heads of hollyhock dolls wearing large pink flower skirts. Next to the front door, a large white hibiscus bloomed as ivy grew up the walls of the old brick cottage. The air in the garden overflowed with the sweet-scented blooms and was alive with the buzz of bees. The little narrow paths through the garden reminded him of the streets of Anterg winding through the cozy cottages.
Feeling like he was being watched, Dunmore opened his eyes. Standing in the shadows was a red fox with a gray tail.
