Wendy K. Ulmer, is an American, award winning writer of children's literature and young adult fiction. She has written six children's books and three fantasy books, lives in Arrowsic, Maine and hybrid publishes her own material, distributing them internationally through the name Wooly Moon Books[a]

Early life and education

Ulmer was born on September 1, 1950[1] in Lebanon, Pennsylvania and grew up in Mount Gretna. She graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a Bachelor of Science in music and earned a Master of Education in Creative Arts in Learning from Lesley University, located in Boston.[2][3]

Career

Ulmer was a high school music and english teacher in Maine for twenty two years and became a full time author.[4]

She has been recognized for multiple awards including her second book, published in 2008, A Isn't for Fox: An Isn't Alphabet, which was the recipient of several recognition awards, including the 2009 Teacher’s Choice Awards for Children’s Books from Learning Magazine[5]. Ulmers fourth book, published in 2014, My Twelve Maine Christmas Days (a take of the song The Twelve Days of Christmas), won the 2014 Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators Spark Award.[6]
